Shutdown timeout

From MLDonkey
Jump to: navigation, search

shutdown_timeout is the maximum time in seconds to wait for networks to cleanly shutdown.

When downloading from BitTorrent, MLDonkey has to notify the trackers that the downloads stopped, during its shutdown process. When downloading many files at once, it needs some time to notify all trackers and wait for their confirmation. Some trackers uses anti-leech features that decrease your credits if they not receive a proper update about transfered data when MLDonkey shuts down. If this happens shutdown_timeout may be increased to 15 seconds or more to satisfy these trackers.

The system control script must wait at least shutdown_timeout seconds before to let to shutdown the system.

Default value

shutdown_timeout is 3 seconds.
