P2P Network ports
Since mldonkey supports several p2p networks, it will use different ports, depending on the networks you've enabled:
- eDonkey (client) : port
- eDonkey (server) : server-port
- MLdonkey source sharing extention : mldonkey_ext
- Overnet: overnet_port
For a more comprehensive list look at WhatFirewallPortsToOpen.
Control ports
You also need to open certain ports if you plan to remote control mldonkey:
- 4080 : http_port
- 4000 : telnet_port
- 4001 : gui_port

Common questions
- But I'm not the admin of my office/school LAN / I have no control of the router/firewall: Can i still use p2p/mlnet?
- My school/office only give me an http proxy / I can only browse the web and all other ports are closed.
Do you think they could be doing it on purpose?
